Whether you agree or disagree with the person sitting in the hot seat of the POTUS, you have to admit our nation has had many interesting and colorful characters in this position. Our 33rd President, Harry S. Truman said, "Not every reader is a leader, but every leader must be a reader." As an avid reader, it's said that Truman read every library book in his hometown of Independence, Missouri. Interestingly enough, books seem to be a constant in the lives of presidents. Stacks of read and yet-to-be-read books were as common as the furniture in Thomas Jefferson's library/study at his home called Monticello. John Quincy Adams's Stone Library holds over 12,000 titles! Ironically, Lyndon B. Johnson had a television in almost every room of his Texas White House. Nonetheless, presidential libraries are impressive to say the least! So on this President's Day, here's a few of our favorite sites (NPS and not) featuring former POTUSs. (L-R: Washington's Mount Vernon, Woodrow Wilson home, Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHS, Harry S. Truman NHS, Lyndon B. Johnson NHP, Jefferson's Monticello, Adams NHP, and Eisenhower's Boyhood Home)
